This tribute concert is an immersive journey through the decades-long odyssey of Nick Cave: from the post-punk chaos of the 1970s to the transcendent, communal experiences of his modern work in the 2020s. It honors a man who shifted the tectonic plates of rock music—a preacher, a punk, and a poet who taught us that there is as much holiness in the gutter as there is in the cathedral.
Straight To You features a curated line-up of local Victoria artists who will take you on a descent into Cave’s psyche, moving between primal aggression and orchestral beauty. The evening will highlight the monuments of Cave's expansive career; including the jagged and industrial cacophonous sounds from his earliest work with The Boys Next Door and The Birthday Party; the "Southern Gothic" narrative storytelling of romance and murder from The Bad Seeds; the raw and abstract meditations on grief, love, and the "Wild God" of his most recent works.
