Alton Carter is a former foster child He was the first person in his family to graduate from high school and college. Now the Training Manager for Air Hygiene International in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma The Oklahoma State University alum has dedicated his life to inspiring others to use their life experiences to make the world a better place. In April of 2015, his debut book, THE BOY WHO CARRIED BRICKS, was published by The Road Runner Press. On April 9, 2016, the nonfiction title won the 2016 Oklahoma Book Award. Since then, Alton has written AGING OUT, THE BOY WHO DREAMED BIG, THE BOY WHO WENT TO THE LIBRARY AND THE BOY WHO SURVIVED. and His newest Children's book titled DIFFERENT ALTOGETHER Carter makes his home in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with his wife, Kristin, and their five children Kelton, Colin, Alliyah, Angilina and Curtis.

Author Betty Selakovich Casey is the former editor of TulsaKids Magazine, an award-winning parenting publication. She has also been a teacher.

Ms. Casey always wanted to write and illustrate children’s books, but it wasn’t until her own three children were grown that she had the time (and space in her house), she says.

Her debut picture book, May Finds Her Way, was inspired by a true event about an Iditarod sled dog named May; Western Writers of America named it a Spur Award finalist, and Highlight’s Zaner-Bloser named it a SuperKids Read Aloud Title. Her second book, That is a Hat, was the 2023 Read Across Oklahoma title selection.

Her newest book — The Prince of the Prairie — is about friendship and a little buffalo, bison being the national mammal of the United States.

Jennifer Jarnagan-Riem is an American author who adores travel and the great outdoors. Together she and her family have traveled all over the United States, collecting memories and knowledge along the way.

After twenty years teaching in Oklahoma classrooms, Jennifer understood the disconnect between children and pride in country. Being a life-long learner herself, Jennifer left the classroom in 2022 to expand on this theory – if you lead, they can choose to follow.

Jennifer is supported in life and in her dreams by her one-in-a-million husband, Jason. After her POEMS diagnosis (a very rare blood disorder) in 2023, Jason fulfilled every promise he had made to her by standing strongly by her side, caring for her, leading the family, and remaining steadfast no matter what doctors, or life threw their way. Jennifer is also supported by her children, Janson and Jenna, along with her mom Linda, her daddy from heaven, and her mother and father-in-law, Kathy and Dan.
