Join ASATT Community Initiative for a storytime event honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., at A Seat at the Table Books ! Volunteers Jasmine and TheLastPoet will share books for all ages surrounding concepts of freedom, and the paired activity will ask attendees to think about where they feel the most freedom and draw that place. With Inauguration Day falling on Dr. King's day of remembrance and honor in 2025, events like this are crucial. This in-person event is perfect for kids and families looking for a safe way to connect with others who share their vision of everyone having a seat at the table.
About our volunteers :
ASATTCI President Jasmine (she, her, we us) is a multi-passionate leader with over 15 years experience bringing the marginalized into alignment with reality. Having a challenging, yet protected, lived experience allowed Jasmine the unique ability and opportunities to cultivate dynamic shifts in systems designed to maintain the status quo.While her heart and soul are based out of Providence, RI and Sacramento-Los Angeles,CA, Jasmine currently resides in Sacramento, CA creating community and generational wealth with her two neurodiverse children.
Jayshana "The Last Poet" Roper is a passionate performer, writer, educator, and organizer driven by their desire to create a more equitable world. They will be joining us virtually from Chicago.
