Picture book stories for children under 5 years old. Come along to introduce them to the joys of exploring new worlds and fun stories. Free, carers to stay.
Storytelling can help children:
- Engage with imagination and creativity. Picture books can help develop a child’s imagination by introducing new ideas into their world.
- Empathise with unfamiliar people, places or situations. Reading helps build emotional intelligence and empathy skills, enabling young readers to better connect with other perspectives and human experiences.
- Gain insight into different traditions and values. By talking about human nature across different cultures, children begin to see how very different people share the same life experiences.
- Develop active participation and listening skills. Focus and listening skills are developed as children concentrate on the plot and, at the same time, gives them specific practice in word comprehension through exposure to interesting and meaningful content of stories.
