Storytelling Workshop: essential techniques to become more captivating

Join us for an engaging storytelling workshop hosted by Bishan Toastmasters Club, conducted by Visual Storyteller Jun Han.

Whether you're a seasoned expert or just starting your journey into communication, this workshop will show you how to easily find your best stories from your past and tell them in a more entertaining, engaging, and effective way.

Through hands-on exercises, we’ll introduce you to essential storytelling skills that are invaluable for captivating an audience, whether in a speech, a presentation, or a casual conversation.

• Stories are remembered far better than statistics, with 68% of people recalling stories compared to only 27% remembering statistics (Graeber et al., 2022)
• Stories serve as memory aids, instruction manuals, and moral compasses. (Sue Rice, Tiny Thunder)
• Humans cannot help but to think in stories. We're natural storytellers, even if we don't know it yet ourselves.

The ability to tell a good story can help you communicate better and help you connect with others on a deeper level. This applies for public speaking, teaching, and conversations at all levels. This workshop will also offer a glimpse into what Bishan Toastmasters Club is all about—a space for personal development, growth, and community.

Jun Han is a business illustrator. He explains complex ideas with simple pictures, in what he calls visual stories. In addition to publishing visuals and stories about life lessons, he works with businesses to amplify the impact of their messages so that they can achieve greater impact. After years of exploring the worlds of psychology, public speaking, sales, marketing, and storytelling, he is excited to share the most impactful storytelling concepts and techniques that has worked for him.
