A creative course exploring stories, folklore and tales through textiles and print making techniques
About this Event

THIS IS A 4 WEEK COURSE STARTING MONDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER 2026 FOR 4 WEEKS UNTIL 28TH SEPTEMBER

Join local artist Alice Burford for this enjoyable short course to explore folklore, tales and storytelling through textiles and print making techniques.

The sessions will include learning lino printing and embroidery to create prints and stitched illustrations from folktales.

All materials are included and you will leave with your completed pieces and all the skills and confidence to carry on making at home.

The course is suitable for complete beginners or those wanting to refresh their skills.

Hot drinks and biscuits are included.

To ensure this Summer Crafts Course is accessible to everyone we have made it Pay What You Can for the 3 week Course. We have suggested £30 to help cover costs but if this is not affordable for you then please input what you can. (When booking, please add a donation of however much you can afford for the 3-week course). Any donation is welcome. If you have any questions about bookings, please contact us by email on [email protected] or pop into the Stitch-Up Studio.

Stitch-Up CIC is a social enterprise and any profits we make are reinvested straight back into delivering our creative community projects supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Leeds to learn new skills and improve wellbeing.

We will also be using this time to gain feedback from participants about what creative activities they would like to see going forward at Meanwood Community Centre so all feedback is greatly appreciated.

There is ample parking available at the Community Centre Car Park. If you cannot fit in the Car Park, please park on the main part of Stainbeck Avenue, with consideration to the residents please do not park in the cul-de-sac.

The Stitch-Up Studio is to the rear of the Community Centre. Once you arrive in reception please follow the signs for Stitch-Up.

You can follow us on Instagram @stitch_up or Facebook on STITCHUPLEEDS to keep up to date with what we are up to or visit our website stitch-up.org.uk.
