Join us on Wednesday, March 18 at 6 PM at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art for an evening with Janis Miltenberger, whose exhibition "Productive Uncertainty" is on view in the North Gallery from March 6 through June 1, 2026.Miltenberger’s intricate glasswork reflects her deep engagement with nature, science, and storytelling. Viewing her work as allegory, she transforms fables and symbolic forms into luminous sculptural narratives. During this talk, she will discuss the themes of "Works in Blue", "The Doctrine of Signatures", and "An Intimate Area", and share insight into her process of heating, bending, shaping, sandblasting, and painting glass to achieve subtle, painterly color shifts.
Experience how light and glass intertwine to explore meaning, symbolism, and our connection to the natural world.
This artist talk is free and open to the public. No RSVP or tickets are required.
