Announcing our October edition on the 30th at a new venue, Praça in Beato. In honor of Halloween, a day of costumes and masks, our theme is “Pretend.”
As always interpret the theme freely.
Pretend is about trying to be something else. Finding yourself under the spell of a con artist (or maybe you are the one doing the fooling). Lying to yourself about who you are until something happens when you can no longer ignore it. Padding your resumé and then getting the job.
Please come just to listen or get on stage, be vulnerable, and share with us, a diverse group of welcoming and open people who are curious about each others' lives. Stories will last from 7 to 10 minutes. Expect ten stories plus an intermission.
We have a new venue this time! We will hold our event at Praça (@pracabeato_) located at Travessa do Grilo 1 in the former food production building for the Portuguese military that has been converted into a cultural and culinary space. The bar will be open with yummy drinks and small snacks. The venue also has a restaurant in the adjacent hall if you would like to have dinner there afterwards (book a table for dinner here: https://letsumai.com/widget/praca)
Storytelling Lisboa is a completely free event run by volunteers. We welcome everyone to get on stage! Absolutely no experience is necessary.
We only ask that stories be true and personal and that they are performed as opposed to read—and they should be stories instead of philosophical musings, motivational speeches, or stand-up routines.
The content is completely at the discretion of the storyteller as long as it is related in the monthly theme and respectful to the diversity and experiences of all humans.
