With this year's theme Love, we explore love in all its facets. Portraying it's romance, warm family love, and the dark sides of love. Celebrating that love is love, and the power of love to bring about change. We will be joined by storyteller and comedian Soula Notos to guide us through three days filled with personal stories as our host extraordinaire.
Thursday December 12 - Opening Night:
On this night we kick of the 4th edition of the Storytelling Festival Nijmegen with a grand line up of short love filled stories, music and dance. Introducing a lineup of diverse and refreshing artists such as Anas Al Halabi, Erwin Kiene, Roxana Gravilut & Geoffrey Haynes, diving in to all that is love, being romantic, portraying love in our ancestry and the love of family, learning to love yourself and what can come from loving your fallow man instead of hatred and fear.
Friday December 13 – Love is Love
On the day of Purple Friday (Paarse Vrijdag), a national day of solidarity whit our rainbow community, we celebrate diversity and freedom to love and be loved as you desire. Love is Love!
‘A Fist of Tongues’ is a poetic performance in which Spoken word artist Sunni Lamin Barrow takes you through different stages of a journey he himself made: his flight from The Gambia to The Netherlands because of his sexual orientation. Followed by the Queer Story Night. After all, what’s a better way to strengthen the community and to fight bigotry than sharing stories.
Saturday December 14 - Stories on love & family
On this last day we share stories around the love we find, lose, take pride in and celebrate with in our families. A rich night depicting three personal stories in which love takes on different forms, for love can be bright as well cover us in darkness and grief. Featuring Meysam Forooz ‘The Chord’, Soula Notos and David Labi ‘Pieces of a Man’.
*Alongside the saturday program is offered David Labi’s ”Parental Storytelling Workshop“, for participants to process family stories with creativity and joy. (16:00-18:00)
*As we see every night as a package experience curated with love for a full night of stories, we sell only daytickets.
