Joining us again for another fun story time on Saturday, May 10th at 10:15am is Mooresville's own Officer Dave!!!
Officer Dave Harding believes that a successful and professional police department must have the support of the community. As the Crime Prevention and Community Outreach Officer for the Mooresville Police Department, Officer Harding—more commonly known as “Officer Dave”—strives every day to build relationships between our community and MPD.
Officer Dave loves Mooresville and its residents, and, having lived in and served the Mooresville community over 32 years, he is proud to give back to the community any way he can. After a 30-year career as a police officer and deputy sheriff, he joined MPD in 2015 as a Public Safety Officer. Having experience in crime prevention during his law enforcement career, Officer Dave was assigned as MPD’s Crime Prevention and Community Outreach Officer in 2016. Since that time, he has worked diligently teaching classes on safety, security, and law enforcement issues to members of our community. He develops and participates in many community events to build positive relationships between the police and community, averaging 600 classes and outreach activities per year.
Officer Dave wants the citizens of Mooresville to be proud of the amazing officers that serve our community. He has seen first-hand the effects of a negative police-community relationship, and he is committed to promoting positive relationships in Mooresville. Recently, MPD was awarded “Department of the Year” for its crime prevention and community outreach activities, beating out more than 600 police agencies from across the United States. Clearly his work and the work of all MPD staff is having an impact!
Officer Dave is happy to provide many services to our community, be it a safety or security class, a tour of the police department, or participation in a community or school event. No class or activity is too big or too small, and he prides himself on never turning down an invitation to fellowship with our community.
