About the Event
The Manistique Community Treehouse Center invites families, neighbors, youth, elders, and community members of all cultures to come together for Story Telling From Our Ancestors, an evening dedicated to sharing the stories, wisdom, traditions, skills, and teachings passed down through generations.
Following the community response to CEO Tammy Black's story about her Indigenous grandmother, MAMU, we want to create a space where families can share their own ancestral stories and experiences.
Bring the youth in your family! Our young people can learn valuable lessons from the stories of those who came before them, how families cared for one another, how communities worked together, skills that were passed down, traditions that brought people together, and the fun and memorable moments that shaped our families.
What We'll Do
- Share family and ancestral stories
- Pass down teachings and wisdom to our youth
- Talk about family traditions, culture, and community
- Share skills and lessons learned from previous generations
- Explore how we can bring greater togetherness back into our communities
- Create connections among people from different cultures and backgrounds
- Give youth an opportunity to listen, learn, ask questions, and share

There will be food and refreshments. Please bring your own chair and come prepared to enjoy an evening with your community family.
This is more than a storytelling event—it is an opportunity to preserve our history, strengthen relationships between generations, and help our youth carry the wisdom of yesterday into the future.
