About this Event

Sunday 20th September, 17:00 (doors open 16:45)

Join us at the museum where we will be in-conversation-with social historian and award-winning author, Hallie Rubenhold. Renowned for exploring history’s forgotten women, Hallie’s latest investigation ‘Story of a M**der’ foregrounds the extraordinary women who, until now, have been pushed to the fringes of the infamous true-crime story featuring Dr Crippen. In Hallie’s own words, ‘no murderer should ever be the keeper of their victim's story…’

Hear Hallie unpack how she was able to construct this important, restorative history, and breathe life into such an eccentric cast of characters straddling both sides of the Atlantic. And, as is so often the case, discover the critical part that Bow Street played in this Story of a M**der.

This event includes a Q&A with the audience, and a book signing opportunity with the author. Copies of ‘Story of a M**der’ will be available to purchase on the night.

Hallie Rubenhold is the #1 Sunday Times bestselling and Baillie Gifford prize-winning author of The Five, the Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper. A renowned social historian whose expertise lies in revealing stories of previously unknown women and episodes in history, she is the author of The Covent Garden Ladies which was the inspiration behind BBC TV's 'Harlots'. Her biographical work, Lady Worsley's Whim, was dramatized by the BBC as 'The Scandalous Lady W'. Her most recent work of non-fiction, Story of a M**der, the wives, the mistress and Dr Crippen, has been optioned for TV. She lives in London with her husband. Meet her @HallieRubenhold
