OVERVIEW
This interactive workshop explores the art of personal storytelling, empowering you with techniques to captivate audiences in performances, business, and branding. Discover how to craft compelling narratives that resonate deeply and leave a lasting impact.
Lead by award-winning storyteller Phill Branch, you will explore how to take your experiences and use them in multiple platforms. There are two tracks: Live Performance & Personal Statement/Essay Writing. At the end of the workshop, you will present your story to the cohort.
GOALS:
Throughout the workshop, you'll:
- Gain insights into the psychology of storytelling and its influence on human connection.
- Explore different storytelling formats and structures for various contexts.
- Learn how to identify and harness your unique storytelling voice.
- Develop skills for crafting impactful opening hooks and memorable conclusions.
- Practice techniques to engage your audience emotionally and keep them captivated.
- Receive feedback and guidance on your storytelling skills from experienced facilitators.
Whether you're a performer, entrepreneur, marketer, or aspiring public speaker, this workshop will equip you with the tools and confidence to harness the power of personal storytelling for success.

ABOUT PHILL:
Phill Branch is an Emmy® Award winning producer, a writer and director. Branch’s documentary (Maryland Public Television/PBS) won the Emmy for Outstanding Education/Schools Long Form Content (Capital Emmys/2024). His film,a (Maryland Public Television/PBS), a documentary about the impact names have on our lives, won the HBO Best Documentary award at Martha's Vineyard African-American Film Festival. His upcoming memoir tentatively titled "The Double Dutch Fuss" will be released by HarperCollins/Amistad in 2026. He is a 2024 recipient of the Maryland State Arts Council’s Creativity Grant and a 2019 Rubys Artist Award grantee for storytelling and performance. He was the 2018 GrandSLAM Champion of The Moth in DC. Branch is the Founder and Creative Director of Baltimore Story Fest, a showcase for live, personal storytelling. Currently, Branch is a Resident Artist at the Howard County Center for the Arts.
