Story by Story is a monthly series for adults and teens, where storytellers from around the country share stories reflecting diverse cultures, beliefs, and experiences. Performances run 45-60 minutes, followed by an up-to 30 minute discussion opportunity. An American Sign Language interpreter will be provided for all events.
Personal and traditional stories connect in unexpected ways as internationally acclaimed storyteller Noa Baum presents Stories that Guide Us Home. With delightful drama and daring, she offers us gems from her trove of family stories and rich Jewish heritage that highlight our similarities, celebrate our differences, and guide us home.
The Washington Post describes Noa Baum as someone who "spreads cultural truths that eclipse geopolitical boundaries". An internationally acclaimed storyteller, author, and coach, she offers a unique combination of performance art and practical workshops that focus on the power of narrative to heal across the divides of identity and promote compassion and peace.
Born and raised in Jerusalem, Noa trained in theatre at Tel-Aviv University, studied acting with Uta Hagen, and received an MA in Educational Theater from NYU. She presents internationally in Turkey, Sweden, Israel, UK, Australia, and across the U.S. Highlights include The World Bank, Mayo Clinic, US Defense Department, National Storytelling Festival, Ojai Festival, St. Louis Festival, and the Kennedy Center.
Noa is the author of a memoir A Land Twice Promised: An Israeli Woman’s Quest for Peace – winner of Anne Izard Storytellers' Choice Award, LDS Publishing Association Award, and Storytelling World Award – and picture book How the Birds Became Friends, on the power of kindness to bring peace. Her audio recordings won Parents’ Choice and Storytelling World awards.
Noa lives in the Washington, DC area and was voted by The Washington Jewish Week as one of 10 most interesting local Jews. Learn more at www.noabaum.com
