Stories of Courage

Stories of Courage will be a staged reading November 6th through 9th based on research by PSU Altoona Professor Amir Marvasti. In this performance, staged readings explore the nuances and peculiarities of courage, a much lauded but poorly understood virtue. The readings will be based on empirical data from respondents who were invited to tell stories of their most courageous acts.
Audition dates are September 9th and 10th from 6 to 8 pm.
Auditioners who have experience writing are encouraged to audition. Director Emily Evey will be guiding interested writers to co-create the script of Stories of Courage with skills from theatre of the oppressed, playback theatre, and interview theatre. Participants will help analyze and weave together the empirical data to highlight a collective found message about courage.
Auditions will include cold reading of monologues and dialogue about writing and research. Writers, actors, and any interested volunteers are invited to auditions. Please bring all known conflicts as well as your theatre and writing experience.
