Stories in Stone: An Authentic Stone Cutting & Storytelling Experience
About this Event
Step off the beaten track and discover one of Kilkenny's oldest traditions in a unique two-hour experience that combines heritage, craftsmanship and storytelling.
Join storyteller and Stonecutter Martin Matthews in his rural workshop, where locally quarried Kilkenny limestone and flagstone become the gateway to centuries of history. Watch traditional hand tools bring stone to life, hear fascinating stories of the quarries and the people who worked them, and uncover the folklore woven into the landscape.
Guided by Martin, learn about cutting stone using traditional techniques, design and receive your own small keepsake to take home.
Set against the beautiful landscape of North East Kilkenny, this intimate experience offers more than a workshop, it is a chance to slow down, connect with the land, and experience Ireland's living craft heritage through touch, story and creativity.
