Blue is a color of endless stories. It is the calm of open skies and still waters, the depth of memory, the weight of longing, and the quiet promise of hope. In Stories In Blue, artists from the Nashville collective Blue House Creatives explore the many emotions and meanings this color holds.
The exhibition, on display in the MACC’s Papillon Gallery, celebrates the strength of creative community. Artists from different disciplines come together, each bringing a unique perspective while contributing to a shared story. Through diverse approaches and experiences, the exhibition reveals how a single color can express countless emotions. Whether blue represents serenity, resilience, melancholy, or wonder, every artwork reminds us that our stories become richer when shared.

Blue House Creatives is an artist collective dedicated to fostering creative community and expanding exhibition opportunities for local artists. Founded by Nashville artist Nadine Shillingford, the collective includes artists working across a wide range of disciplines, including painting, collage, photography, sculpture, pottery, and more. Members actively contribute to Nashville’s arts scene by teaching workshops, presenting solo and group exhibitions, and collaborating with local galleries and businesses.
Blue House Collective members include: Beth Barnard, Julia Tong, Beverly Patterson, Ashley Mintz, Jackie Lewis, Mark Schlicher, Pegah Kadivar, Mariah Leggett, Martha Morales Purucker, LeAndra Crystal, Shayla Holt, Amy Krimsier Sterling, Lyn Stevens, Leroy Hodges, Jr., Barbara Hodges, Roberta Bell, Tricia Townes and Nadine Shillingford.
