Through drawing and storytelling, Anoush shares the nuances of growing up Armenian in America, offering a glimpse into the experience of navigating multiple cultures. Her work captures moments that words alone often can’t, using art as a lens to explore identity, belonging, and everyday life.
About the Talk:
How do we navigate different cultures in America? And how do we represent those experiences? These questions have been explored throughout history from many perspectives. Anoush offers a creative and personal response through cartoons, stories, and humor.
About the Speaker
Anoush Froundjian is a storyteller and cartoonist whose work centers on the Armenian experience in America. She creates the webcomic Anoush Talks to Stuff, where a girl speaks to inanimate objects, and co-produces the storytelling show The Armenian Power Hour. You can find her at @AnoushTalksToStuff and learn more about the show at @thearmenianpowerhour.
Join us as she presents her art work live, guiding us through stories from childhood to adulthood. A common thread emerges: when you’re pressured to fit into a box, you’re also given the opportunity to design it yourself.
