Come join us for an informative--yet slightly spooky--evening walking tour of Grove Hill Cemetery! Topics will span from the inception of the cemetery to the many mysterious stories and events surrounding the people who are buried within our gates.

Stories Beyond the Stone: The Background

This historically accurate, in-person event will take you on a journey through time, starting in 2000s and ending in the 1830s, as Grove Hill Cemetery's manager discusses the rich history of the cemetery and its people. Learn about the tumultuous starting of the cemetery, the biography and stories of some of Darlington's most interesting characters, and even a few mysteries that historians can't quite piece together.

Stories Beyond the Stone: Why We are Hosting the Event

Grove Hill Cemetery is governed by a board that establishes bylaws, rules, and regulations. These rules state the cemetery is responsible for maintaining grass, trees, shrubbery, and other elements concerning the aesthetic beauty of the cemetery.
Current cemetery rules do not permit the cemetery to use general funds to repair, reset, and/or preserve monuments. 100 % of the proceeds from the Stories Beyond the Stone tours will be used to repair, reset, and preserve monuments in the oldest section of the cemetery.
