Bring your imagination to life! The Ludington Area Center for the Arts invites animators of all ages and styles to submit their work to our Stop Motion Animation Festival. Come out and support our local creators!
Festival Divisions
We welcome creators across three distinct age brackets, starting with our Art-Venture Artists for ages 5 to 9, followed by Creative-Quest Artists for ages 10 to 14, and wrapping up with Adult Artists for ages 15 to 99 and beyond.
Submission Categories
No matter your unique style, we are accepting entries in a variety of creative formats. You can submit LEGO and Building-Blocks animations like brickfilms, classic clay-mation using plasticine, or found objects where everyday items like shoes, fruit, and tools tell a story. We also welcome paper and cutout entries featuring 2D stop-motion, paper silhouettes, puppets, or illustrations.
Submission Guidelines and Perks
Videos must be between 15 seconds and 5 minutes in length, and everyone is welcome to submit up to two videos. The final deadline to enter is September 12, and you can submit your videos online at ludingtonartscenter.org/smaf. As a special thank you, all participating artists will receive 4 complimentary tickets to the screening event.
Event Tickets and Audience Voting
Be a part of the action! Audience members will get the chance to vote for the Viewer’s Choice Award in each age category. You can buy tickets in advance for $5 either in person at LACA or online at ludingtonartscenter.org/smaf. Tickets purchased at the door on the day of the event will be $10.
⚠️ Important Note: Videos must be TV-G. All videos will be pre-screened ahead of time and must be appropriate for all ages to be included in the festival line-up.
