You might not have had the chance to see Stompin’ Dave in action, but many consider him one of the most exciting and entertaining musicians on the current live music scene.
In 2024 Dave was nominated for a UK Blues Award.
A prolific artist in the studio, Dave is a former member of former UK Blues Band of the Year, The Producers. Dave has consistently given over one hundred performances per year across the UK and beyond, including many major festivals.
With his songwriting Dave has engulfed himself in the masters of American roots music, remained true, but managed to produce “not…a sound of yesteryear that should be in a museum but real, modern, and relevant that should be heard live” Blues Matters. “Let’s face it, in adding the quality of his original material the man is a downright genius” - Blues In Britain.
Joining Dave in this lineup is drummer Lucy Piper, daughter of the late blues guitarist, writer and broadcaster Julian Piper, widely acknowledged as a leading UK authority on blues.
Lucy has spent many nights performing in Mississippi, USA alongside many top musicians including multi Blues Music Award winning Watermelon Slim and Robert Kimbrough Senior, son of one of the all time greats of hill country blues, Junior Kimbrough.
In 2019 and 2020 Lucy worked with double Grammy Award winning label Ruf Records on their annual ’Blues Caravan’. She also appeared on Ryan Perry’s album High Risk, Low Reward which was nominated for a Blues Music Award in 2020. Universally recognised as the highest award in blues music.
Lucy and Dave have been performing regularly together since 2022 with many appearances at various festivals and arts centres. In that time they have released four albums together.
Support comes from the The Bo'Weevil Brothers:
"The Bo'weevil Brothers blow through like a hurricane, combining a wide range of electric and acoustic blues, with Folk, Country, and Gospel to create a rousing set of stompin' uplifting music.
Expect growly vocals, blistering slide guitar and a hill country inspired back beat, delivered in their own unique style. And with a trick or two up their sleeve, The Bo'weevils stand true to their mantra "Blues, done different."
