About this Event
In the late 1920s, a new style of dance emerged in Harlem—the Lindy Hop. At the Savoy Ballroom, legendary jazz musicians like Chick Webb, Ella Fitzgerald, and Count Basie would swing from the stage, while dancers like Al Minns, Leon James, “Shorty” George Snowden, Big Bea, Norma Miller, Frankie Manning, and many others would show off their moves on the dance floor.
Join us on Saturday, April 12th for swing dance lessons, live music, and social dancing at the National Museum of American History’s Coulter Performance Plaza. Romp, stomp, move, and groove as the Smithsonian pays tribute to the home of happy feet, the Savoy Ballroom!
