1778. Invaded and immersed in political strife, the Shawnee and all the Ohio native tribes must face the reality that something has changed, and that their world is soon to be upside down. Stomping Freedom was produced by American Indian-led arts nonprofit Caesar’s Ford Theatre. The story begins at Caesar Creek, when an interpreter for the Shawnee tribe receives a letter with news he’s charged with delivering to Shawnee war chief Weyapiersenwah, also known as Blue Jacket.
A panel discussion with director Kane Stratton and others will follow the film, which is set in the Shawnee homelands of Greene and Clark counties and features actors from federally recognized tribal nations in every American Indian role. (40 min | NR)
