What makes an artwork famous?

Is it beauty?

Is it artistic merit?

Or is it the story that comes to define it?

Stolen Fame is a pop-up exhibition exploring how stories, spectacle and attention transform the way we encounter art.

Inspired by the theft of the Mona Lisa 115 years ago, the exhibition asks:

Would the world’s most famous painting be as famous if it had never been stolen?

What happens when attention becomes part of the artwork?

When does a story become inseparable from the object itself?

Over the coming days, we’ll introduce the participating artists and the new works created especially for this exhibition.

Join us on 21 August for an evening of art, live music and conversations with artists and collectors as we explore how stories shape the way we value art.

This is more than an exhibition.

It is an invitation to question how we come to see.

Perhaps what changes is not the work, but the one who encounters it.
