This is a live, in-person tour of Stockport town centre, telling its story from the medieval castle that once towered over the place to its pivotal role in the Industrial Revolution.

Its often violent transition from silk to cotton, and then to hats and heavy engineering, was impressive—as is its continued talent for reinvention.

Arguably the world's greatest engineer was born and educated here, and the town features two world-firsts, as well as sights you won't find in any otherBritish town.

In 2019, a marketing campaign declared, "Stockport isn't shit!" Last year, it was called "The New Berlin." Come with me and make your own mind up!
