Stitched Memories workshop – with Eleesa Howard

Stitched Memories is a gentle, reflective workshop inviting you to slow down and spend time with a memory, a treasured moment, or a short phrase that resonates deeply.

Guided by exhibiting artist Eleesa Howard and inspired by her exhibition Hold Me, Hold Me Close, this workshop offers a quiet space to honour the stories we carry.

We begin by painting words onto canvas—your own small fragment of lived experience—before moving onto the process of stitching over the surface. As thread moves across the fabric, it softens the text below, tracing its shape, holding it in place, and transforming it into something felt as much as seen.

This thoughtful making practice echoes themes within Howard’s work Hold My Hand, Hold Me Tight, exploring care, connection, tenderness and the intimate act of holding onto what matters.

This workshop welcomes all creative stages, with beginners warmly encouraged. It is intentionally relaxed and unhurried and designed to be personalised, offering space to reflect, make, and create something meaningful to take home and hang on your wall.

All materials are supplied, however we encourage you to bring along threads, fabric or papers that you associate with a special moment or memory. It's advisable to bring an apron or an overshirt to protect your clothing.

Morning tea will be available to help yourself to, during the session.
