Stiperstones Winter Solstice Sunrise | Shropshire | 6km hike (Women Only)

Join us on this winter solstice sunrise walk up Stiperstones in Shropshire where you'll explore the rocky outcrop on an early morning stroll. We'll start this walk at the Stiperstones Natural Nature Reserve- Knolls car park and head up to the summit. We'll climb onto the rocks and find a nice comfy perch to (hopefully) enjoy a beautiful sunrise. Bring layers, a hot drink and blanket to make yourself comfortable as we sit and watch the sun come out on the shortest day of the year. We will then walk along the ridgeline and explore the area before heading back to the car park.

Distance: 6km / 4 miles

Ascent: 140m

Time: ~3 hours

Grade: Beginner (find out more about our grades here)

Terrain: Rocky, muddy, uneven terrain.

Who will be your guide?

Hi I'm Janire, a qualified mountain and new team member of the Adventure Girls Club. I will be setting up more frequent events in Shropshire and the surrounding area and look forward to meeting you all.

Transport:

By Car: We will meet at Stipersontes Natural Nature Reserve- Knolls car park which is free for all.

Liftshare: It would be great to liftshare as much as possible, if you need a lift or can offer someone a lift please post in the lift share WhatsApp group here.

What to bring:

• Hiking boots or trainers with good grip
• Snacks, a warm breakfast, a hot drink
• A blanket
• Water (at least 1 litre)
• Headtorch
• Waterproofs and lots of warm layers
• Small first aid kit with personal Medic*tion
• A day rucksack to put water, breakfast and layers in.

Toilets:

There is no toilet so you will have to embrace what I like to call a 'wild wee'! There are a few hidden spots en-route which I will point out if anyone needs it, if you need to go, just tell someone in the group and hang back for some privacy.

Consent Form:

If you are booked onto the hike please fill in one of these forms no later than the night before. You will not be allowed to partake in the hike unless you have filled out this form. I will send out a reminder 2 days before the event.

Safety:

I like to make these hikes as enjoyable as possible for everyone, so I keep a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on these hikes, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns.

I am a Qualified Mountain Leader and I am level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so I will be on hand in case of an emergency.

Dogs:

Well behaved dogs are allowed on my walks, however I cannot guarantee that all stiles are dog friendly. Dogs will need to go on leads when walking through livestock or near roads.

Refund Policy:

Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled. If you can no longer attend you are more than welcome to sell your ticket to someone else but please let me know if you do so.
