In this stilt walking workshop you will learn important safety measures for both yourself and others. You will discover how to fall safely, the importance of a handler/helper, and why you should avoid catching with your hands. The instructors will also teach you how to properly use knee and elbow pads, as well as appropriate shoes for stilt walking.
You will learn various walking techniques such as lifting the leg and utilizing your hip flexors and glutes. In this workshop we will be using drywall stilts.
Additionally, you will get tips on how to perform on stilts, encouraging you to explore clowning and creating a unique character.
Finally, you will learn how to get up and down from the stilts safely, using a ladder or stairs. By the end of this workshop, you will have a beginner understanding of stilt walking.
Please wear closed toed, well fitted sneakers/shoes that cover the entirety of your foot.
