Stillness & Light: Nature Photography & Mindful Poetry w/ Inja 8/21 at 6pm

What You Will Be Doing:

Stillness & Light is a contemplative phone-photography workshop, combining nature-inspired mindful walking, nature photography, and creative writing. This is a non-technical workshop that invites participants to engage in a quiet, meditative walk through the gardens, pausing to experience moments of natural stillness and movement, and capturing these moments through the lens of a phone camera to create “ekphrastic photography” (images that inspire poetry or writing).

Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 6:00p. Check-in opens at 5:45pm.

Where

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave Northeast, Washington, DC 20019. Participants will meet at the picnic tables.

Getting There

Visitors should enter the park on Douglas St and Anacostia Ave at the green ranger tent. Street parking only available while park maintenence is being done. By Metro, the park entrance is 1.0 mile from the Deanwood Metro Station and 1.3 miles from the Minnesota Ave Station, both on the Orange Line. By foot or bike, access the park via the Anacostia River Trail.

What to Bring

Participants should bring a water bottle, cellphone with a camera, snack, bug spray, sun protection, and/or anything else one may carry when spending time outdoors. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for being outdoors.
