About this Event

"All of us are here because of the dreams and desires of our ancestors. They would marvel at who we've become. But as we approach the US250 Anniversary, it should be acknowledged that 250 years, though long on a human scale, is an extremely brief period of time, when considering the creation of a culture which seeks to "become a more perfect Union", promising Freedom, Justice and Equality. There is still more to do and we are still here."

Join Theatre of the Oppressed Uptown of Riverside Church at the Harlem Library for an interactive workshop led by teaching artist Jeremiah Kyle Drake. Together, participants will explore dreams, identity, community, and the ongoing journey toward a more perfect union. Through poetry inspired by Langston Hughes, reflective writing, creative art-making, and participatory theatre activities, participants will examine personal and collective aspirations while imagining ways to turn dreams into action. No previous theatre or art experience is required.
