STIFF DRINKS: GALLOWS IN AISLE 5: HH HOLMES & SLASHER HORROR MOVIE TRIVIA
About this Event
COME HANG OUT WITH US! Another round of STIFF DRINKS IS HERE!!!
It’s going to be a fascinating evening filled with local history, detective work, and a rarely discussed tale about America’s first serial killer: H.H. HOLMES!!
We’re absolutely thrilled to be joined by historian, Jennifer Jones, of The Dead History, and learn about her research locating Holmes’ exact place of EXECUTION during her talk: THE GALLOWS IN AISLE 5 : MAPPING THE EXECUTION OF H.H. HOLMES.
America’s most infamous serial killer, Herman Webster Mudgett, alias H.H. Holmes, went by many names and had many faces. You might know him as the Devil in the White City, The Torture Doctor, or the Beast of Chicago. What many folks DON’T KNOW, is that Holmes was arrested, imprisoned, EXECUTED, and BURIED right here in Philadelphia.
What even FEWER KNOW, is the South Philly Pr*son he was hanged at has since been torn down and transformed into something truly unbelievable! Sorry to leave you HANGING on details but all will be revealed at our event!
The lecture will be followed by a special SERIAL KILLERS and SLASHER MOVIES TRIVIA event! So dust off your favorite hockey mask, chill the Chianti (hold the fava beans), and sharpen both your knives and wits, it’s going to be a night of laughs, screams, and cereal, err, serial killers!!
LIMITED SEATS AVAILABLE AND TICKETS WILL GO FAST!
COST IS $10 per ticket. 2 tickets for $15. At check out you have the option of a single ticket (for $10) or double ticket (for $15).
We will be donating a portion of our proceeds to support the amazing work of Charlie's Army, a local a local, independent animal rescue entirely focused on saving the animals who need it most. If you can’t make the event please consider donating directly to them! Every little bit helps!
REMEMBER: Nothing’s too arcane, gruesome, taboo, or out of bounds - so long as you’re among good friends and have a couple of STIFF DRINKS!!
Moving forward, STIFF DRINKS will alternate between online and in-person programming and include a variety of scholarly, accessible, and respectful public dialogues: including informal lectures, activities, charitable events, and more. Think of it as an inclusive community for taphophiles by taphophiles!! Come get the dirt on topics like human composting, local graveyard history, cemetery symbolism, cadavers, true crime, grave robbing, necrophilia - and more!
See you there!!
