About this Event

Join Ciclo and The Marine Mammal Center for a hands-on, creativity driven event exploring how sustainability and conservation are deeply connected. Together, we’ll learn about how reducing waste and reusing materials can support a healthier planet and protect marine life. During this event, participants will transform upcycled materials into jewelry, patches, and other hand-sewn creations. We’ll discuss how our everyday fashion choices play a role in environmental stewardship. By the end of the event, we hope you’ll leave feeling inspired to take sustainable action, empowered by new creative skills, and motivated to continue your conservation journey through mindful choices.

Stewardship Saturday events vary in levels of physical and mental exertion. Please review the entire event description, including accessibility notes, to ensure this event meets your expectations.

We can sign for Community Service hours if you need us to!

Accessibility notes:

  • This event occurs on two different floors, stairs will be required to access both floors
  • Creating your own items using repurposed materials such as clothing
  • Sharp tools, such as scissors, will be used or available

  • Neighborhood parking is available, but time is restricted. Please make sure you read the restrictions and set a timer if you need to move your vehicle.
  • Driver note: Adult drivers of youth are welcome to drop youth off and come back at the end of the event, or explore the local area during this time. We do ask that youth attend the events without adults to allow for opportunities to meet others interested in conservation. All organization staff are certified to work with youth.

  • If you are taking Muni Metro light rail, the closest stop is Judah and 9th (N)
