Steve Forbert is a true American musical treasure, with a career defined by observant, melodic songwriting that finds magic in everyday moments. His latest album, Daylight Savings Time, produced by Steve Greenwell, features contributions from Aaron Comess, Rob Clores, Byron House, and Gurf Morlix, and celebrates the subtle joys and reflections of life with Forbert’s distinctive voice, acoustic guitar, harmonica, and foot-stomped rhythms. The album’s first single, “Sound Existence,” captures his blend of warmth, wit, and wisdom: “The best ain't yet to come, but you could still get by just fine.”
Arriving in New York City from Meridian, Mississippi, in 1976, Forbert quickly established himself in the “new folk” revival while also performing in venues like CBGB and busking across Greenwich Village. His early albums, Alive on Arrival and Jackrabbit Slim, including the #11 pop hit “Romeo’s Tune,” cemented his place in American music alongside legends like Dylan, Zevon, Parsons, and Springsteen. Across decades, Forbert has refined a singular musical voice, blending narrative storytelling with enduring melodies, making him a beloved figure in folk, rock, and Americana.
A night not to be missed at the best sounding little music venue in Chattanooga!
