Cillian Murphy as you have probably never seen him before. The Times said he was “mesmerising” as Steve, a reform school headteacher attempting to manage his school’s closure and his own mental health. The film is based on Max Porter’s bestselling book Shy and is set in the mid-90s. We follow Steve during a pivotal day and we also meet Shy, a troubled teen caught between his past and what lies ahead as he tries to reconcile his inner fragility with his impulse for self-destruction and violence.
