Do you want to deepen your fiction or non-fiction characters, make them more relatable and intriguing?
Join us in an exploration designed to breath life into your darlings, and draw your readers in.
Brenda Sparks Prescott will help both fiction and non-fiction authors develop skills around creating and writing authentic characters with telling detail, while avoiding use of cliché and conventional language. The workshop will address drawing inspiration for character creation both from lived experiences and from outside of personal experience, as well as utilization of and differences between archetypes and stereotypes. There will be hands-on aspects, too, so you will want to bring your laptops or internet-connectable writing devices along!
Speaker Bio:
Brenda Sparks Prescott was awarded an MFA in creative writing, conferred by the University of Southern Maine, and an AB in African American studies and sociology, conferred by Harvard University (AB = Harvard’s BA). Over thirty years of experience in non-profit administration, and in creative management services for performing artists, allowed Brenda to take her academic skills into the real world, and develop expertise in written communications. Her publications range from short fiction (published in various magazines), to non-fiction articles, and a recent release of her premier novel, Home Front Lines (Bedazzled Ink Publishing, March 2021). Brenda has also been associated with various workshop presentations, including several with the Solstice Summer Writers’ Conference, at Pine Manor College, Chestnut Hill, MA.
