Stepping Stones Won't Break My Bones: Workshop by Sharu Binnong Sikdar

Tomorrow Maybe presents “Stepping Stones Won’t Break My Bones”, a solo exhibition featuring Filipino-Indian Hong Kong-based artist Sharu B. Sikdar at the Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 Cultural Instituion showcase. Working with organic materials and sensory processes, Sikdar’s practice invites viewers to confront the fragility of emotions and the delicate nature of interpersonal interactions and to reflect on how growth emerges through mindful engagement.

The interactive presentation features a floor-based installation where visitors experience varied physical sensations underfoot, invoking concepts of reflexology and the metaphor of "walking on eggshells" to explore bodily awareness as a form of emotional attentiveness and resilience. Complementing this is a wall-mounted artwork made of broken eggshells sewn together with the artist’s own hair, which reflects on personal relationships, intimacy, and stress. Together, the works examine themes of healing, self-preservation, and growth, suggesting that emotional repair is a delicate process shaped by mindful confrontation and intentional care.

Extending the exhibition’s themes of mindfulness and attentiveness, the booth will feature a dedicated event and workshop area, where Sikdar will host a small-group sewing-on-eggshells workshop. Guided by the artist, participants will work carefully with fragile materials, engaging in a slow, hands-on process that mirrors the emotional sensitivity explored in the installation. The workshop offers an intimate space for reflection, encouraging participants to consider how gentleness, patience and awareness can shape both creative and interpersonal practices.

Tomorrow Maybe 於 2026 年巴塞爾藝術展香港展會文化機構展區，呈獻駐港菲印裔藝術家 Sharu B. Sikdar 的個人展覽《Stepping Stones Won’t Break My Bones》。Sikdar 的創作運用有機物料並強調感官體驗，邀請觀眾直面情感的脆弱與人際互動的微妙本質，反思成長如何從專注的當下體驗中萌芽。

展覽的核心是一個互動式的地面裝置，觀眾步入其中時腳下會感受到不同的物理觸感。作品引用了「反射療法」（reflexology）的概念以及「如履薄冰」（walking on eggshells）的隱喻，將身體覺知轉化為一種情感上的專注與韌性。與此相輔相成的是一件掛牆藝術品，由藝術家以自己的頭髮將破碎的蛋殼精心縫合而成。這件作品反映了 Sikdar 對人際關係、親密感與壓力的個人探索，審視了在生活經歷中形成的內在界線。兩組作品共同探討了療癒、自我保護與成長的主題，暗示情感修復是一個由正念面對與刻意關懷所塑造的細膩過程。

為延伸展覽關於正念與專注的主題，展位將設有專屬的活動與工作坊區域，Sikdar 將在此主持小組形式的「蛋殼縫紉工作坊」。在藝術家的指導下，參與者將小心翼翼地處理脆弱的物料，透過緩慢的手作過程，親身體驗裝置作品中所探討的情感敏感度。工作坊提供了一個私密的思考空間，鼓勵參與者思考溫柔、耐心與覺察力如何塑造創作實踐與人際關係。
