Stephanie Strange, Melinda Kausek

Stephanie Strange presents a charming and immersive musical experience that straddles the line between the genres of folk, musical theater, and storytelling while exploring the dark and fantastical places of the human mind. Strange has an enchanting and unique performance for all audiences with a highly original voice that travels from sincere and poignant to wry and dark-humored. Influences include the world building of Neil Gaiman, the wry humor of Edward Gorey, and the avant garde flair of Laurie Anderson.

Melinda Kausek has been singing and making up melodies for as long as she can remember. Her deep dive into songwriting began, however, when she picked up the banjolele. The mere concept of this instrument captivated her and once she switched to a low-G, the songs began to pour out. Her music dances between folk and pop with a bluesy twist. Dreamy, haunting melodies float over the twang of her banjolele and moody guitar stylings, while her lyrics explore the light and dark sides of life and love, magic and freedom.

After years of living abroad and out of state, she returned to her Bay Area roots three years ago and quickly settled into the open mic scene, which led to features, solo shows, bandmates, and finally recording and releasing her first originals. She has played both solo and with a full band in local venues such as Hotel Utah, Little Green a Plant Bar, Thee Parkside, and the Ameswell Hotel. Recently, she was named one of the Top 20 Bay Area Bands of 2024 (according to Broke-Ass Stuart).

Tickets are $20 general admission; $15 for students with ID. Children under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available here, or if the show is not sold out, you may purchase your tickets at the door before the show.

Doors open one half hour before show time. We accept cash or Venmo only at the door.
