Hello! My name is Megan and I am with STEP@Pitt at the University of Pittsburgh!STEP@Pitt is the Service Dog in Training Education Program at the University of Pittsburgh. We are partnered with Canine Companions, a national nonprofit that provides highly trained service dogs to adults, children, and veterans at no cost to the individual. STEP@Pitt facilitates the relationship between Canine Companions and College Puppy Raisers while offering resources to make college puppy raising more accessible. Puppy raisers are responsible for training, socializing, and financially supporting the future service dog during their 15-18 months together. On average, it costs approximately $2,500 to financially support a future service dog’s food, monthly preventatives, and vet visits.
For the second year in a row, we are hosting a nonprofit golf event which will be on September 21st at Buffalo Golf Course located on 201 Monroe Road, Sarver, PA 16055. We have individual and foursome golf options, as well as a dinner only option. It is $90 per person or $350 for a foursome which includes 18 holes of golf with a cart (2 people per cart), a light lunch, and hot buffet dinner following the tournament, along with great silent auction prizes! Tee off is at 1pm and the dinner portion will begin at 5:30pm. All of the proceeds directly benefit our college puppy raisers and their future service dogs!
