Stella Swings Ella is a joyous celebration of the life and music of Ella Fitzgerald. Vocalist Stella Heath leads a stellar band on a journey through Ella’s iconic repertoire from her early swing-band days with Chick Webb to her timeless recordings from the Great American Songbook.
With dynamic arrangements, rich storytelling, and infectious rhythm, the show brings new light to Ella’s brilliance while honoring her impeccable phrasing, wit and heart. Heath’s luminous voice channels the joy and spontaneity that made Ella a legend, while the band keeps the energy sizzling and swinging—blending vintage authenticity with modern sparkle. Whether you’re a lifelong Ella fan or discovering her magic for the first time, Stella Swings Ella invites audiences to tap their toes, laugh and fall in love all over again with the First Lady of Song.
Stella Heath began singing at age eight, and her early musical influences were Louis Armstrong, Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, Ella Fitzgerald and others. After studying acting at Interlochen Arts Academy and Syracuse University, she spent many years as a Shakespearian actress in New York City. She returned to her home state of California in 2014, starting Bandjango Collectif, a band that mixes French jazz manouche, New Orleans hot swing, and eclectic global folk. In 2019 she blended history and music with The Billie Holiday Project, a musical tribute to the great Lady Day. In October 2023, Stella released "Waiting Just for You" an EP with Ben Levin on Vizztone Label Group. She will be releasing her next album "A Little Moonlight" a tribute album to Billie Holiday on Matterhorn Records May 15th, 2026.
