Stella Anning:Stella Anning will light up the Shotkickers stage with the highly anticipated launch of her new album ‘Yellow Brick Veneer’. This evening promises a rich blend of musical vulnerability, soulful improvisation, and spontaneous artistry.
Composer, guitarist, and performer, Stella Anning is marking her full emergence as a singer/songwriter with her upcoming body of work Yellow Brick Veneer, out Wednesday 3 September, exploring themes of motherhood, mental health, identity, and the complexities of personal and familial relationships. Her background in jazz and composition continues to shape her sound – expressive, searching and rooted in improvisation.
Known for her guitar trio; STAT (Stella Anning Trio), Stella has long explored the sonic possibilities of the guitar trio format, moving between blues, roots, jazz and soul. This new project builds on that foundation while opening into a more lyrical and personal terrain.

Tamara Murphy & the Golden Tone Retrievers:
Tamara Murphy and The Golden Tone Retrievers is the new project led by bassist/singer-songwriter, Tamara Murphy. In 2024, this band released two singles and their debut album Remind Me Not to Forget.
Tamara Murphy is a well-known bassist, who has performed with Kate Miller-Heidke, Ali McGregor, Frente!, Harry Angus, Nat Bartsch and Paul Grabowsky amongst many others. In this project, she steps from the back of the stage to the front, leading this stellar new band as a vocalist.
Expect to be treated to lush sonic worlds with dreamy lyrics - their music flips between genres, from introspective dream-pop worlds to extroverted 80s-rock anthems. These songs also include glimpses of electronica and folk music textures, intricately detailed soundscapes and moments of chaos, all held together with strong melodic themes, including playful nods to the ‘80s, with echoes of bands like The Motels, Teeth and Tongue and Joan as Police Woman.
