Celebrated for playing of “uncommon musical substance” that is “striking for its intelligence and sensitivity” (Boston Globe), Stefan Jackiw has been heralded as one of America’s foremost violinists. Returning to the A2SO for the first time since 2023, Jackiw tackles Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, allegedly deemed “unplayable” by its original dedicatee, but now a monument in every concert violinist’s repertoire. Music Director Earl Lee leads the orchestra in Jessie Montgomery’s jazz-infused Overture and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10—a portrait of anguish, agony, and all-too-brief triumph.Please note that Stefan Jackiw will replace Stella Chen, who was originally scheduled to appear as soloist but has been forced to withdraw due to travel conflicts.
