Race the Severn Valley Railway with an exciting new 5k and 10k along riverside trails. Steaming Down the Valley is a one-of-a-kind trail running and paddle sports event set in the heart of the Severn Valley, with Race HQ at Severn Valley Country Park.
🏃♂️ Trail races (5K & 10K)
You’ll start from the historic Country Park Halt to the sound of a steam train whistle and race along woodland paths and riverside trails beside the Severn Valley Railway.
• 5K finishes at the iconic Arley station
• 10K turns and heads back upstream, racing the returning train 🚂💨
Expect fully off-road routes with dirt, gravel, grass and woodland trail underfoot. There are natural ups and downs, a few uneven sections, and the chance of soft or muddy ground near the river, but this is challenging, not extreme. Trail shoes recommended 👟
🚣 Paddle sports race
More at home on the water? Start from Miner’s Bridge, choose your craft (canoe, kayak or SUP), and launch at the steam whistle. Paddle downstream on the River Severn, chasing the train to the footbridge at Arley 🌊🚂
However you race, on land or water, expect big scenery, proper adventure, and a finish you won’t forget!
