A three-day public event, May 15-17 highlighting graduating students’ work throughout West Valley College’s Bill & Leila Cilker School Art & Design and the School of Math & Science.
Location: West Valley College
Buildings: Cilker School of Art & Design, Science & Math, Planetarium, Visual Arts Building, & WVC Performing Arts Building.

Architecture, Art, Graphic Design, Fashion, Interior Design, Film, Music, Photography, Theater, and Dance
May 15-17 highlighting graduating students’ work throughout the West Valley College Bill & Leila Cilker Art & Design school. The EXPO is open daily for self-guided tours as well as scheduled special events, including the Cilker Student Film Festival, Jazz Under the Stars, Open Studio Figure Drawing Workshop, Art Gallery Opening & Student Art Sale, the graduating Fashion Design student Spring Fashion Show, Content Magazine Pick-Up Party 17.3 “Perform," and Cilker Performing Arts Department's annual Dance Caravan. STEM EXPO
Opening May 16 – The STEM EXPO is a one-day public event that highlights student work throughout West Valley College’s School of Science and Math. The EXPO will showcase student demonstrations and work in artificial intelligence and machine learning, data analysis, engineering, physics, green energy, and wildlife conservation.
The EXPO will be open from 3:00 p.m. for self-guided tours. The program begins at 5:30 p.m. with a brief welcome by the Dean of the School of Science and Math, Mel Vaughn in front of the Jean and E. Floyd Kvamme Planetarium. Following the Dean’s welcome, guests are invited by our Science and Math students to explore and learn new concepts through various demonstrations and activities to exhibit their work.
Must see activities include:
Birds of Prey – Starting at the Science and Math Outdoor Stage, participate in an entertaining, funny, and educational raptor show featuring hawks, falcons, and owls
Get Reactive with Chemistry – Starting at the Science and Math Outdoor Stage, participate in an entertaining, funny, and educational raptor show featuring hawks, falcons, and owls In the Science and Math Courtyard watch our students demonstrate chemistry and chemical reactions in the world around us.
Phun with Physics! – Watch our students in the Science and Math Courtyard perform various demonstrations of the applications of physics in the world around us.
Lab Rats – Solar Bike project demonstration, AI Modeling poster presentation, & Synthesized Paints
Kvamme Planetarium Exhibit Tour and Shows
Join us for a beautiful and breathtaking experience in the state-of-the-art Kvamme Planetarium. Shows start at 6:00p and 7:30p. The shows are free during the EXPO. An RSVP is required as seating is limited.
Moon Garden Tour - Visit our “Moon Garden” to learn about the synergy of plants and animals in this “nighttime” garden.
Friday, May 16
5:30 PM – 5:40 p.m. – Opening Remarks from Mel Vaughn, Dean of the School of Science and Math at the Jean and E. Floyd Kvamme Planetarium
3:00 – 7:00 p.m. – STEM EXPO in the Science and Math Courtyard
Featuring: Raptor Show, Moon Garden Tour, Physics & Chemistry Demonstrations, and Exhibitions
Seats for the planetarium shows must be reserved by going to https://kvammeplanetarium.ludus.com/
This event is FREE! All ages welcome!
Complimentary parking provided in parking lots 2, 3, 4, 7.
