About this Event

Open-source software and AI coding tools can help teams move faster, but they also come with licensing and compliance responsibilities that can’t be ignored.

Join NextCorps for a free lunch & learn with Steven L. Smith, CEO and co-founder of Perdix Software, Inc., for a practical introduction to software licensing, copyright, and open-source compliance. This session will help founders, developers, and product teams better understand how to evaluate software licenses, track third-party code, and reduce risk as they build.

You'll learn:

  • The basics of copyright, open source, and free software
  • How to read and evaluate third-party software licenses
  • Why Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs) matter and how to start tracking code usage
  • Common licensing pitfalls and how to identify potential risks
  • What to know about AI-generated code and the use of third-party code in AI workflows

This is an in-person workshop and lunch will be provided. Space is limited and registration closes at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 15.
