Randolph McAfee ONLY auditions 9-10am. Boys aged 8-12. Only 10 spots, if they are full you will be put on a waitlist. Required song selection “Kids (Reprsie)”
All other auditions for teens and adults (13 and up) are in 1 hour slots from 10-4. Minimum age to audition is 13 years old. 15 people per slot
In the 1 hour everyone will sing, some will read, and everyone interested in dancing will learn a dance combo. Audition cuts will be coming in the next few days. You are not required to sing one of our cuts but PLEASE keep your selection to around 30 seconds, we will cut you off if you go too long. If you are singing something different than our cuts, sing something that shows off your vocal range
Callbacks if needed will be later that evening. You may be asked to stay to sing a selection or read again. If we need you for a callback, we will let you know as soon as possible.
Character specific notes:
The teen and especially adult ensemble will be doubling/tripling many different characters in the show. Some ensemble may be asked to play instruments on stage if they are able. This show has a lot of dancing, so some of you may be asked to sing off stage during big numbers.
We are not adding any additional songs from either movie versions. No title song, no “Let’s Settle Down,” “Giant Step,” or “A Mother Doesn’t Matter.” This means Mae Peterson will have no required singing and may not have to be at vocal rehearsals.
“Ed Sullivan” appears in the show as a voiceover during a scene change, but if you bear a resemblance to him, you may be on stage if you want, so either way this can be a cameo that doesn’t require much rehearsal.
While Rosie Alvarez is an American born citizen, her Spanish heritage is pivotal to the plot. Rosie also must be a strong dancer.
Conrad Birdie technically has a “guitar man” in the script that plays guitar for him, so guitar playing isn’t a requirement, but it is DEFINITELY a plus as in the original movie and many productions he does play himself. The chords to “one last kiss” will be written into the audition cut
Even though the script says she’s 15, Kim McAfee must be at least 18 years old.
