Last evening is April 1.The Stations of the Cross is a 14-step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christโs last day on earth as a man. The 14 devotions, or stations, focus on specific events of his last day, beginning with his condemnation. The stations are commonly used as a mini pilgrimage as the individual moves from station to station. At each station, the individual recalls and meditates on a specific event from Christโs last day. The Stations of the Cross are most commonly prayed during Lent on Wednesdays and Fridays. The object of the Stations is to help the faithful to make in spirit, as it were, a pilgrimage to the primary scenes of Christโs suffering and death.
Following the Stations, we will gather in the dining room for a simple meal of soup and bread. ๐๐ฅ๐๐
The Stations of the Cross are appropriate for all ages. Bring the whole family and enjoy this special time of prayer and fellowship.
The Stations of the Cross are commonly found in churches as a series of 14 small icons or images. Here at St. Joseph Parish our Stations of the Cross are depicted in the 14 stained glass windows on either side of the church. Our stained-glass Stations of the Cross (as well as the stained-glass windows in the chapel) were purchased in Chartres, France in 1964 from the artist, Gabriel Loire and were relocated from the old St. Joseph's church on the hill (now housing Northwest Christian School).
