Keynote: Dr. Scott Baier
Scott Baier is a Professor at Clemson University and currently is the Associate Dean of Research in the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business. Prior to this appointment, Baier served as Chair of the John E. Walker Department of Economics from 2016-2024. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from Michigan State University. Before joining Clemson, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Notre Dame. His research focuses on globalization, the economic effects of free trade agreements, and economic growth. From 2007 to 2008, he served as a Senior Economist on the President’s Council of Economic Advisers under George W. Bush. Between 1999 and 2012, he was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Additionally, he has worked as a consultant for the Congressional Budget Office, the U.S. International Trade Commission, and USAID.
