From Start-up to Household Brand (with Q&A): Charlie Bigham and Martha Keith
Starting a business can be a roller-coaster journey. In this session you'll find out how to build a successful and sustainable brand from your kitchen table. Martha Keith, British Library BIPC Business Ambassador and founder of the Martha Brook stationery brand, will host a fireside chat with Charlie Bigham, founder of the eponymous food brand to delve into his story of building the fastest growing grocery brand in the UK. Together they'll shed light on the grit behind the glamour of entrepreneurship and arm you with all the facts you need to decide whether starting a business is right for you. You’ll also come away with the key strategies that can help you to stay focused on creating work that you love that fits in with your life goals and aligns with your purpose.

Start-up Stars: What I Wish I Had Known When I Started Up (with Q&A): Rasheed Ogunlaru, Mickela Hall-Ramsey and Helen Edwards
Taking the leap into the world of entrepreneurship can be a daunting experience, but there are few short-cuts. Join our panel of successful business owners as they share their experiences and what they’d wished they’d known before they started up. Multi-award-winning entrepreneur, Mickela Hall-Ramsay, has impacted the lives of more than 55,000 youths through her company. At just 21 she founded HR Sports Academy in 2008. At 34, Mickela became the youngest Chair of the London Youth Games, and the first to come from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background. Helen Edwards is the Founder and Director of East End Prints, based in East London. With 25 years of artist management, licencing and copyright experience, Helen has driven her business forward over the last 14 years with her passion and values of creativity, accessibility, community and sustainability. Today, East End Prints is one of the biggest art publishers in the UK.

What is your cancellation policy?
The majority of our events are free, but places are often limited - especially for in-person events, therefore please make sure you cancel your place, if you are unable to attend. You can cancel through your Eventbrite booking or emailing [email protected].
Can I attend if I'm not a member of the library?
Absolutely! Any Sussex based business/ person with a business idea is welcome. Though we always recommend joining the library as it's free and will make accessing our databases, books and publications much easier.
