Starlight and Embers
Winter School Holiday Programme
Celebrating the celestial world, the passage of time and the beginning of a new cycle through stories, adventure and play.
For young people aged 7 and up.
There will be space for: Wild exploration, natural building, fire lighting, foraging, fireside storytime, folklore and mythology of stars, tree net adventures, chocolate making, games, creative woodwork, nature crafts, whittling, quiet time, sky gazing, fireside cosying, kai creation, music making, hammock swinging, imagining and creating just about anything that tickles your fancy.
Matariki is upon us. At this time of midwinter when the darkness is its longest, we have more time in the mornings and evenings to gaze above us into the starry sky, an activity that tickles the imagination, evokes awe and wonder and highlights how tiny we are in the vastness of space. As well as humbling us to the great mysteries of time and space the stars also serve a practical function of marking a new year, a new cycle and a new beginning.
