We'll start the New Year with America's all-time favorite dance, Swing. Swing comes in many versions: West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Shag and East Coast Swing. It's the East Coast Swing variety that we'll be featuring at this dance. That's partly because East Coast Swing is part of the Ballroom Dance Portfolio (American Rhythm) of dances but it's also because we want to get the New Year started with some classic Rock & Roll. And for Rock & Roll, there's no more perfect dance than East Coast Swing. Yes, we'll still have our mix of ballroom dance music but we'll have a big extra dose of Swing to keep things lively.
If you haven't danced much and want to get back into it, Swing is a great way to start. It has a relatively simple basic step and the music just calls you to move to a driving back beat. If you're an experienced hoofer and you want to get some more interesting moves for your party animal spirits then this dance will allow you to do that. We have a teacher lined up, Lindsey Kling, who has been teaching Swing for many years to all level of dancers.
